Does anyone know, where and when the first shields were made?

    I don't think anyone knows, but a stele from 2525 BC shows Sumerian warriors carrying leather or wicker shields. That's the oldest I know of.

    Since stone-age peoples (such as the Aztecs) used shields in historical times, it is likely that the shield is far older.
